If you’re looking for a well socialised, top quality healthy puppy then you’ve found the right place.
BLACK GERMAN SHEPHERDS
Our pair of beautiful solid black German Shepherds are both from top quality 100% East European working lines, primarily imported Czech
police dogs. Our male also has some excellent East German working lines.
The main difference between the solid blacks and the more common, 'traditional' black and tan/red shepherds is simply the quite rare (for Georgia at least) jet black colour.
Our two black dogs have very similar faces, but in just about every other respect our blacks are the same as any other German Shepherd.
The lines our black female comes from were bred more for search and rescue which doesn't require the size and heft of a large male border guard
dog chasing down unforunate escapees from the happily now long gone old communist Warsaw Pact countries. Our black male is very typical of larger
border guard East European police dogs.
Both our black dogs have superb ball drives, which makes them very eay to train. Both are extremely intelligent, sweet dogs and are fully house trained.
The pups, thus far, seem to be all solid black - no sign of any sables or bi-colours. All the pups also appear to have the same standard (shorter) stock
coat as their parents.
This litter was whelped and is being raised in our family kitchen. By the time they are ready to leave - at 7--8 weeks old - each pup will have had
two standard X5 puppy shots and been wormed twice with Nemex. All pups will have a full AKC transfer. They will be fed Eagle Pack Large and Giant
Breed Puppy Food once they transition to solid food.
Picking pups will be done strictly in the order of any deposits recieved. Otherwise it will be first come, first served. The pups should be ready to go the
weekend of March 7-8th.
We offer a twelve-month guarantee against crippling hip dysplasia (provided this is not caused by injury or serious over feeding). Both our blacks
are fully developed, very active adults and have not the slightest sign of any hip problems. We of course also offer the usual 48 hours to take your new pup to your vet
for a vetinary new puppy examination.
Please do not hesitate to send us an e-mail (see link on Contact Us Page) with any questions you may have. We can always follow up with a friendly chat on the phone.
General Info On German Sheherds
These days buying a German Shepherd involves more than just visiting a responsible breeder and buying a dog with AKC
papers. You have to decide what kind of dog you want, the type of temperament that’s best for you, mindful of what
the dog will look like, and its size when it’s fully grown. These days many puppy ads claim German or other European bloodlines, which is pretty meaningless unless
the full pedigree is freely available as it is for our dogs. Just go to the pedigree pages on this web site and click on the different dogs listed and you will
see the GSD Directory entry and photograph (where available) for each dog.
Buying a "cheaper" dog is not necessarily a wise move. Health problems can arise,
such as ears taking several months to come up, poor temperament, possible genetically induced hip problems in later life etc can all affect a pups health and
development. A quality pedigree and conscientious reputable breeders whose dogs have excellent genetics is your best protection
against buying a flawed puppy. Like pretty much everything in life you get what you pay for.
Its worth repeating that the best way to get a healthy, even tempered puppy is to buy from a responsible breeder who has dogs that are
completely unrelated, thus avoiding any risk of the dreaded "line breeding" - an utterly irresponsible type of in breeding. Make sure your chosen
breeder has dogs, which like ours, come from reputable breeders with AKC or other similar (foreign) papers that can be easily traced back to quality parents on
both sides of the pedigree.
The other crucial thing is to make sure the breeder has handled the pups from a very early age and the pups have been
well socialised within the household, fed a quality dog food, been seen by a vet, been wormed properly and given the usual puppy shots. This is all
something we do as standard.
We are just very conscientious hobby breeders and never ever breed the same dog twice in a year. The mother has her pups in our air
conditioned/heated kitchen and there they remain until its time for them to go their new homes.
German Shepherds bond very quickly and very strongly with their new families. Usually the more you socialise a
dog the more affable it will be with people, other dogs and pets. But even if this is not possible an adult shepherd
will normally still be as sweet with family members as it was when it was a puppy. Shepherds usually develop a strong
protective instinct for their families and their property, and are not known for being quite as friendly with complete strangers
as say the average Cocker Spaniel or Golden Retriever.
We will be very pleased to discuss any of your requirements with you and of course we will happily take a non refundable
$200 deposit if you wish to reserve a pup before they are ready to go to their new homes. Pups are normally ready to
leave at 7 – 8 weeks old. 6 weeks, which used to be the norm, we feel is just a bit too young.
Deposits, if the need arises, can be transferred to a future litter. Clearly the non-refundable nature of the deposit
is in case someone decides not to buy a pup and we lose out on the sale of a pup. This is standard practice when reserving pups. We have had to
do this ourselves when buying pups in the past.
